3 BIG DOGS

oh hey!! i got chased by 3 dogs! Elder Flint and I were tracting, and we saw a big house up on a big hill. We started to walk up and we got about half way up the hill and 3 big dogs came out of the trees and started chasing after us, and I said "oh shoot' and the next thing I knew, in just a split second I look over and see Elder flint darting down the hill flailing his arms in the air, I started to run down with him and as I was running I was laughing so hard but at the same time I was saying, "oh shoot! oh shoot" I later asked Elder Flint why he ran so fast, he told me he didn't even see what it was, all he saw was my terrifying look on my face and he had never heard me say, oh shoot before so he assumed it was something more terrifying. He said the way I reacted was that it was like I had seen the grim reaper or something. So he left me behind and ran for his life. it was still scary being chased by 3 big dogs lol, oh! and Jordan Smith!! the big guy that won the voice a few years ago, the one I really like! he apparently lives in a town near Hazard.

Till next time,
Elder Sorensen

1st week in the 1st area

It is so different out here, its literally hill billy island out here. My first area is in Kentucky, my companion is named Elder Flint, I saw Elder Lurker, it was just a quick hand shake though.
There is a lot of road kill on the roads, lots of old people and smokers, I come home from a long day with my white shirt smelling like cigarettes. Most of the people here have no more than like 5 teeth, 6 if they are lucky. The branch in this area has only about 120 members, only 20 active members, the church building is no bigger than the old seminary building next to the old jr high, maybe even smaller. But, people are friendly for the most part. There are lots of pretty birds. Everybody in this area has a dog, I haven't been chased or bitten by one yet, but its bound to happen haha. Lots of Christian people out here, they are friendly and they all love Jesus and are friends to everyone. They love that we as missionaries love Jesus as well, they let us be their friends, but don't preach to them.... unless its Sunday haha. The other day we had a guy on the street just wave us over and teach him haha that was really cool and also unexpected. Anyways, I'm loving the hill billy land out here. Most everybody lives in a crappy apartment or a trailer. That is just the life style here. Our apartment is pretty nice though, I get my own bathroom and I have a foam pad on my bed, its really nice lol.
I love you and I love the family

In the beginning....

Elder Hayden Thomas Sorensen received his  called on a mission to serve the Lord for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on December 9, 2017. He was called to the West Virginia, Charleston mission.

He spent the next few months preparing in every way to be ready for his new adventure.

He was ordained an Elder on February 28, 2017, and left that night for Utah. On March 1st he entered the MTC and was ready and willing to serve the lord in every way.

Family time at the Provo City Center temple.

Time in the MTC. Wish we had names to go with the faces.
If you know any of these people, let me know.

On March 21, 2017 Elder Sorensen started his day by leaving the MTC at 3:00 am. He Flew to Atlanta Georgia, had a 4 hour layover and was on to West Virginia.
